Landing, Limbo, Living 🇲🇺

👍🏻 We finally landed in Mauritius. Yet strangely, it still feels a little like a holiday. We’ve been here so many times that my brain hasn’t quite registered that this time, we’re staying. Lucy seems to have adapted faster than us: she found a friend, discovered padel, the beach… and apparently parents have already become optional. At least I’m no longer hearing “Why did we come here?” Our temporary penthouse on the beach, three minutes from Cocoon Bay, is making the transition pretty easy. 😁

👎🏻 Cocoon Bay has changed enormously since I last saw it. Inside, we’re probably 90% there. Outside, perhaps 70%. And I’m rediscovering that the last 10% of any project has a remarkable ability to consume 50% of the energy. There are always things you didn’t anticipate: not enough power sockets, solar panels that heat the water but don’t power the house, delays with the electricity connection… The good news is that things are moving in the right direction, our comments are being addressed, and being three minutes away rather than thousands of kilometres away certainly helps. Our container arrives on August 18. Whether the house will be ready for it is another question. 😅

✍🏻 I’ve travelled so much, and visited Mauritius so many times, that I’m discovering something unexpected: moving somewhere and feeling that you live there are two very different things. We’ve changed country, but we’re still living out of suitcases in a temporary home. Maybe the real arrival won’t be the immigration stamp, the new phone number or the change of address. Maybe it will simply be the day our things arrive, the boxes disappear, and for the first time we close the door and think: we’re home. 🌱

🙏🏻 Special thanks this week to Karl & Stephanie

Calm, Change, Copilots

👍🏻 Some places don't just welcome you, they make you feel at home. We have been coming to this old farmhouse in Morzine for years. It's no longer just a hotel; it feels like home. In a season where we've left our previous house behind and haven't yet moved into the next one, that feeling matters more than ever. Sometimes, what we need most isn't a destination. It's a place that gives us the space to slow down, think clearly and regain perspective. 🏔️

👎🏻 Transitions rarely follow the timeline we imagine. Our move to Mauritius is now just around the corner. Cocoon Bay is entering its final stretch, but like many construction projects, the last few details are taking longer than expected. We may move straight into our new home... or spend a few more weeks in transition while the finishing touches are completed. I'm both impatient and confident. Building something worthwhile often requires accepting that the final steps can't always be rushed. 🏡

✍🏻 I'm no longer using AI as a tool. I'm learning to work with a team of AI copilots. ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini each bring different strengths. I now naturally switch between them for brainstorming, research, strategic thinking or analysis. The biggest productivity gain isn't mastering a single AI. It's learning which partner to ask, for which problem, at the right moment. I have a feeling this way of working will soon become second nature for many knowledge workers. 🤖

Circles , Choices , Chapters

👍🏻 Some friendships don’t need much to stay alive. We first met in a sandbox at nursery school around fifty years ago. Our lives have taken us in very different directions, yet every time we meet, it feels as if no time has passed. Just days after showing my daughter that very same school, I found myself sharing lunch with the friend I met there. Life has a beautiful way of coming full circle in the most unexpected ways. ☕️

👎🏻 The hardest choices are often about what to leave behind. Not financially, but mentally. We often keep carrying responsibilities, possessions or commitments long after they’ve stopped adding value. Letting go is often harder than building something new. 🤯

✍🏻 Life’s biggest journeys don’t always end with a finish line. Just two weeks after my own British citizenship ceremony, Sophie celebrated hers. Some of life’s biggest milestones aren’t measured by how quickly we reach them, but by the perseverance they require. 🇬🇧

Conversations, Crossings, Courage

👍 A few days in Paris meant catching up with friends before our move to Mauritius. Almost every dinner eventually led to the same question: “Why leave London?” What struck me was that everyone heard a different story. Some saw a business decision. Others saw a lifestyle decision. We simply saw our next chapter. 🌍

👎 Leaving London was harder than I expected. Not because I questioned the decision, but because every “last time” carried more emotion than I had imagined. The last walk. The last Tube. The last goodbye. Even loading our suitcases onto the Eurostar felt symbolic. I caught myself thinking, “I’ll be back in September.” Maybe that was simply my way of postponing the goodbye. 🚆

✍️ The biggest transitions in life rarely begin with certainty. They begin with a decision to move forward despite uncertainty. Whether it’s changing careers, launching a business or moving across the world, growth often starts the moment we stop trying to hold on to what was familiar. 🌱

Milestones. Momentum. Mindset

👍🏻 Becoming a British citizen, watching Lucy graduate from primary school and finalizing for our move to Mauritius all happened within a few days. Different milestones, yet they all carried the same message: every meaningful beginning starts with closing a chapter. 🌱

👎🏻 Changing countries turns out to be easier than changing habits. London teaches you to move fast, and that rhythm doesn’t disappear just because the scenery changes. Relocation doesn’t automatically install inner peace… it simply gives you a different place to keep working on it. 😄

✍🏼 One thought keeps coming back to me: choosing where to live is becoming part of personal strategy. Technology allows us to work almost anywhere. The real question is no longer “Where are the opportunities?” but “Which environment helps me become the best version of myself?” That’s the journey I’m excited to begin. 🧭

People, Places, Perspectives

👍🏻 This week felt strangely symbolic. Sophie and I spent a few days in Paris, catching up with close friends before leaving Europe next month. At the same time, Lucy was away on her final Year 6 trip to the Isle of Wight with her classmates. While we were celebrating friendships built over many years, she was creating memories with friends she may remember for the rest of her life. Different moments, different generations… yet both quietly marking the end of an important chapter. Growing up isn’t only about children. Adults go through their own transitions too. We simply call them “life decisions.” ❤️

👎🏻 Moving countries has an unexpected side effect: you suddenly realise how many people have quietly become part of your daily life. The friend you always call when you’re in Paris. The neighbour you wave to without thinking. The familiar café. The spontaneous dinner. None of these disappear overnight, but you become much more aware of them once you know they won’t be around every week. Funny how distance often reveals the true value of proximity. 😄

✍🏻 This week reinforced something I’ve been thinking about for a long time. We spend years investing in careers, businesses and opportunities. Yet when a chapter closes, it is rarely the deals we remember first. It is the conversations. The friendships. The people who quietly shaped our journey. Companies create value. People create meaning. The older I get, the more I realise that Building What Matters has never really been about companies. It has always been about people. 🌍

Britain, Bricks, Becoming

👍🏻 I received the confirmation that my British citizenship has been officially approved, and, because life clearly has a sense of humour, my citizenship ceremony will take place on the 14th of July… Bastille Day! I’m not entirely sure whether the British are welcoming me or the French are trying to reclaim me! After sixteen years in the UK, it feels like life is reminding me that gratitude doesn’t recognise borders. Britain gave us opportunities, lifelong friendships, our daughter Lucy, and countless lessons that will travel with us far beyond its shores. As we prepare to leave, this feels like the most unexpected farewell gift the UK could have given us. Sometimes the most meaningful milestones arrive just as one chapter closes, quietly reminding us that gratitude is the best way to leave a place before embracing the next one. 🇫🇷🇬🇧

👎🏻 Leaving a house is never really about leaving bricks and walls. It is about closing a chapter. Walking through empty rooms, I kept seeing memories instead of furniture. This is the home where our daughter spent most of her childhood, where she took her first steps to school, celebrated birthdays, welcomed friends after school, and slowly became the young girl she is today. We are excited about what lies ahead, but saying goodbye to the place that quietly held so many family moments has been far more difficult than I expected. 💙

✍🏻 One thing I am learning is that moving country forces you to clarify what actually matters. When everything is up for redesign, you cannot avoid the deeper questions for very long. Where do we want our daughter to grow up? What rhythm do we want as a family? What environment helps us think better, work better, live better? Which relationships do we want to nurture? Which habits do we want to leave behind? Relocation may look like a change of address from the outside. From the inside, it feels more like editing your life with a very strict word count. You keep what matters. You cut what no longer fits. And hopefully, you make space for a better next chapter. 🧭

Boxes, Bridges, Backstages

👍🏻 The move started to feel very real. Not in the romantic “new life under the sun” kind of way… more in the “why do we own so many cables?” kind of way. Packing a home is a strange exercise. You don’t just sort objects. You sort chapters. Some things go into boxes, some go to charity, some go straight to the bin, and a few make you pause longer than expected. Every move is a quiet negotiation between who you were, who you are, and who you are trying to become next. Mauritius may be the destination, but the transition has already started in every drawer we open. 🌍

👎🏻 I can now confirm that international relocation is not one task. It is a full-time project disguised as a life decision. Schools, banking, permits, housing, insurance, documents, movers, storage, flights, addresses, subscriptions… everything is connected, and somehow everything requires a different password I created in 2010 when I arrived in London. AI may soon transform the future of work, but for now the future of relocation still seems to involve PDFs, scanned documents, and at least one form asking for information already provided in the previous form. Progress is real. It is just occasionally hidden behind admin. 😄

✍🏻 One of the highlights of the week was a private visit to the Opéra Garnier. Our guide showed us details most visitors never notice: Charles Garnier discreetly hid his own name in a ceiling sculpture because the building wasn’t originally meant to bear his name; salamanders carved into the grand staircase symbolised protection against the fires that regularly destroyed theatres; a private entrance was specially designed for Emperor Napoleon III to protect him from assassination attempts, yet he never used it after the fall of the Second Empire, leaving part of it less ornamented than originally planned; and beneath the Opera lies a vast water reservoir where Paris firefighters still train, complete with fish that have become unexpected residents. It reminded me that remarkable places are often defined not by what everyone sees, but by the thoughtful details almost nobody notices. They are also shaped by history itself: plans change, people disappear, but great architecture adapts and endures. Perhaps the same is true of great companies, great leaders… and great lives. 🏛️

Farewells, Frictions, Foundations

👍🏻 London reminded me that a city is never just a place. It is a collection of memories, people, routines, shortcuts, cafés, dinners, school runs, meetings, late flights, unexpected conversations, and friendships that slowly become part of your identity. As we prepare to leave after so many years, I realise that the hardest part is not packing boxes or closing accounts. It is understanding that a chapter can be successful precisely because it is difficult to leave. London gave us energy, ambition, resilience, and a second family. Now Mauritius is calling, but London will always remain one of the cities that shaped us. ❤️

👎🏻 The practical side of moving country remains a beautiful reminder that life is not yet fully powered by AI. You can transfer money instantly (or so), translate Chinese in real time, and operate businesses across continents… but somehow changing addresses, closing accounts, redirecting letters, updating documents, and finding the right person in the right department still feels like a quest designed by someone with a deep love for forms. International relocation is not one big decision. It is 1212 small decisions pretending to be admin. And every time you think the list is finished, another “small thing” appears with suspicious confidence. 📦

✍🏻 One thing I am learning through this transition is that relocation is not really about leaving one country for another. It is about redesigning your operating system. Where you live affects how you think, how you work, how your family grows, how your network evolves, and even how you measure success. London optimises for intensity, opportunity and speed. Mauritius seems to optimise for space, relationships and long-term alignment. Neither is better. They simply create different versions of you. The real question is not only where you want to live, but what kind of life that place helps you build. 🌍

Permit, Platforms, Patriarchs

👍🏻 I finally got the official paper version of my Mauritius Investor Permit. It only took four visits, a healthy dose of patience, and enough paperwork to keep a small forest busy. But that’s often how meaningful things happen: the exciting new chapter starts with forms, signatures, and persistence rather than palm trees and sunsets. The permit may now be in my hands, but the real adventure is still ahead. Next time I land on the island, the priority won’t be permits or paperwork… it will be enjoying Mauritius with my wife and daughter, and starting to turn this new chapter into a real life, not just a project. 🎉

👎🏻 Apparently, Instagram and Facebook have decided I may not be old enough to use their platforms. At this stage of life, I’m choosing to take that as a compliment. What fascinates me is not the mistake itself, but what happens next: you enter the AI vortex, where something that would take 30 seconds for a human to understand becomes surprisingly difficult to explain to a machine. Verifying my age should be straightforward, yet it feels like navigating an endless maze of automated forms, invisible rules, and circular dead ends. The irony is that I genuinely believe I could rebuild my entire social media presence faster with Claude Code than find a human capable of fixing the problem within Meta. So if I seem unusually quiet on Instagram or Facebook, it’s not by choice… I’m still locked out, waiting for someone, or something, to realise that I am in fact old enough to be there.🌀

✍🏻 One of the most interesting discoveries I’ve made in Mauritius is that many of the island’s largest businesses are not controlled by anonymous shareholders or distant institutions, but by families whose names have been associated with entrepreneurship for generations. Banking, hospitality, logistics, real estate, agriculture, telecoms… the same family groups often appear across multiple sectors, not because they inherited an economy, but because they helped build it. Coming from Europe, where businesses are frequently bought, sold and restructured, there is something fascinating about organisations that think in decades rather than quarters. It is a reminder that while technology may be accelerating everything, long-term vision remains one of the rarest competitive advantages. In Mauritius, it sometimes feels like the biggest startup is called “Family Business”… and it has already completed a few successful centuries of operation.♟️

Permits, Projects, People

👍🏻 One step further in my Mauritius adventure. After carefully following the process, ticking every box, and supplying what felt like enough paperwork to start a small library, I’ve officially been granted a 10-year Investment Permit. A reminder that persistence usually pays off. Now the real journey begins… time to build, contribute, and make the most of this incredible island. Let’s rock. 🤘🏼

👎🏻 I’ve been in Mauritius for 10 days now, and despite the island’s reputation, I still haven’t set foot on a beach, taken a swim, or enjoyed a dholl puri. Instead, it’s been construction sites, warehouses, paperwork and permits. But that’s often how new chapters begin: before you enjoy the view, you have to build the foundations. The good news? At this rate, my first roti might end up being a well-earned milestone celebration. 😉

✍🏻 After a couple of rich conversations with locals, I’m starting to understand how Mauritius really works. The island ranks among Africa’s strongest startup ecosystems, yet nobody seems obsessed with becoming the next Silicon Valley; perhaps because the weather is considerably better. What stands out is the density of the network. Organisations like Mo Angels, French Tech Mauritius and the Africa Fintech Hub bring founders, investors and operators into the same rooms with surprising frequency. There is very little posturing, very little time wasted, and remarkably few degrees of separation. In Mauritius, the shortest distance between two deals is rarely a flight. More often, it’s a phone call to someone you met last week. 🕸️

Miles , Mishaps , Mauritius

👍🏻 From Shanghai to Mauritius, with a stop in Saint-Émilion in between, this week felt like a reminder of why I still love the road after all these years. Travel can be tiring, occasionally boring, and airports rarely get more glamorous with age… but more often than not, it stretches your perspective in ways nothing else can. New places sharpen your thinking, unexpected conversations spark new ideas, and when you share those moments with the right people, even a busy week starts to feel less like movement… and more like momentum. 🛩️

👎🏻 A few days back in France reminded me that patience is still an underrated business skill. Sometimes the level of service can be so wonderfully rigid that it feels almost philosophical: “Sorry sir, the booking is under your name, so we cannot give the car to your wife.” “Yes, I made the booking… but she’s driving.” “Exactly. So we must cancel it, we keep your first payment, and offer you a new booking at four times the price.” In moments like that you either lose your temper… or gain perspective. Every country has its strengths, and occasionally its paperwork deserves an award for commitment. Travel keeps reminding me that flexibility is not just a mindset, it can also be your most valuable carry-on. 🤷🏻‍♂️

✍🏻 Moving to Mauritius is less about booking flights and more about sequencing decisions properly. The most practical order I’ve found is: residency first, banking alongside it, then schooling and healthcare, and only after that housing and logistics. One thing worth highlighting: Economic Development Board Mauritius has built a genuinely efficient online process—clear information, digital applications, quick responses. It creates a reassuring first impression. The interesting part comes next: as with many relocations, the system can be very smooth online… and then delightfully more “human” once paperwork starts moving between desks. A reminder that both things can be true at once: the process is modern and well designed, and it still benefits massively from patience, follow-ups, and local relationships. The bigger lesson: treat an international move like a project, not an escape plan. A checklist beats stress, flexibility saves headaches, and even paradise occasionally asks for one extra document you were absolutely sure you already sent. 🇲🇺

Tech , Tones , Titans

👍🏻 Mind-blowing and eye-opening week in China. From starting Monday with a Tai-Chi class at sunrise to exploring the future of AI, robotics, EVs, smart glasses, and exoskeletons across Shenzhen, Hangzhou and Shanghai one thing became very clear: China is not just innovating fast… it is deploying innovation at scale. Visiting Research Institute of Tsinghua University in Shenzhen , Huawei , BYD , Rokid Corporation Ltd , DEEP Robotics sometimes felt like traveling a few years into the future. Although, to be fair, after ordering a personalized AI-made latte yesterday, I’m still not entirely sure whether I visited China… or accidentally walked into 2035. ✨

👎🏻 After my best efforts this week, I can officially confirm that Chinese is a very difficult language to learn. To my untrained ears, many sounds still feel almost identical… while apparently meaning completely different things depending on the tone. One wrong pronunciation and you may accidentally order noodles instead of saying thank you. But this trip also convinced me of something important: understanding China in the future will not only be about business or technology, but also about language and culture. So I will catch up sooner or later… 🗣️

✍🏻 One thing lǎowài (foreigners) often underestimates about China is the sheer size of its domestic market. Some tech companies here are completely unknown abroad… and sometimes even unknown in other Chinese provinces… while already serving a market the size of all Europe. That changes everything: speed, scale, ambition, and competition. What’s also fascinating is how pragmatic many Chinese companies are. When they dominate the technology but feel less strong on branding or storytelling, they simply partner with famous international brands and quietly power the tech behind the scenes. In China, ego seems less important than execution… and honestly, that alone explains a lot. 💹

Rites , Relics , Rules

👍🏻 This week, my daughter went through her SATs , the final exams marking the end of primary school. Truthfully, these exams probably matter more for the schools and statistics than for the kids themselves… and in a world evolving with AI and new ways of learning, traditional exams may soon feel as outdated as fax machines. Yet, there is still something meaningful in these little rites of passage. They teach children how to prepare, manage pressure, finish a chapter, and step with confidence into the next one. Sometimes, the real value of an exam is not the grade… but the quiet feeling of growth that comes with it. 🎓

👎🏻 A few weeks before the big move, I spent a few hours diving into old paperwork and forgotten archive boxes… the kind you haven’t opened in years but somehow keep moving from one place to another like precious treasure. I realised a simple rule makes life easier: if you haven’t opened that box for more than a year, you probably don’t need what’s inside. Throw it away with no regrets. Less clutter, less stress, less CO2 for the move… and maybe the biggest surprise is discovering how much of our “important stuff” was only important to a previous version of ourselves. 📦

✍🏻 Dinner this week with friends at Rules in Covent Garden… London’s oldest restaurant, founded in 1798, just a few years after the French Revolution. Over the centuries, Rules became famous for discreet dinners between aristocrats, politicians, actors… and royal mistresses. King Edward VII was said to use the hidden upstairs rooms to meet actress Lillie Langtry away from curious eyes. More than 225 years later, the atmosphere still feels wonderfully frozen in time: dark wood, velvet corners, impeccable service, excellent food… and probably a few secrets still hidden somewhere behind the mirrors. 🍽️

Paths, Power & Pragmatism

👍🏻 This week in Paris, a close friend invited me to dinner to say thank you, and honestly, I didn’t understand why at first. Years ago, I simply introduced his son, whom I’ve known since he was a baby, to a few brilliant Quant minds I know in London. Apparently, that small moment helped him discover his path and changed the direction of his life. But it reminded me of something powerful: sometimes, the greatest impact we can have is not by pushing people toward success, but simply by exposing them to what truly sparks their passion. The rest comes from them. Never underestimate the value of opening one door for someone. ✨

👎🏻 I was left speechless after hearing a friend’s story. By total mistake, he was arrested and kept in custody for 3 days and 2 nights without access to his phone, unable to call anyone, like most of us who no longer remember numbers by heart. In the end, the only explanation was: “Sorry, we made a mistake.” What’s deeply troubling is not only the error itself, but how easily freedom, dignity, and basic human consideration can disappear behind administrative failure. The irony? This friend is one of the heavy taxpayers in France… someone whose years of hard work help fund the very system that failed him. A powerful reminder that no matter your status or success, protecting justice and accountability should concern us all. 🤯

✍🏻 Yesterday , while signing the notary papers for my very first real estate project in Mauritius, I was struck by something fascinating: all the legal documents felt incredibly familiar to what I had known for years in France, written within the traditions of the Code Napoléonien. Yet at the same time, all the documents I had prepared for my newly created Mauritian holding company followed the Common Law structure I was used to in the UK. This perfectly reflects one of Mauritius’ greatest strengths: a pragmatic legal system shaped by its unique history as both a former French and British colony, capable of combining the best of two worlds to create stability, flexibility, and confidence for entrepreneurs, investors, and families building their future there. ⚖️

Vision , Validation , Value

👍🏻 What I enjoy most isn’t closing deals… it’s listening to kids or grown-ups walk me through their new business ideas. You can tell within minutes: if the passion is there, half the job is already done. The other half is far less glamorous: trademarks, business model consistency, go-to-market discipline… the unsexy foundations that actually make things work. But still, those early conversations, raw, ambitious, a little naive sometimes, are the ones that genuinely make my day. 👌🏻

👎🏻 In Catalonia, getting online access to your company’s tax account is a beautifully paradoxical experience… you start… offline. It requires a physical visit to the tax office, armed with the right documents, signed in the right way, sometimes even in the “right” color. A small reminder that in a world of instant digital everything, some systems still believe the cloud works best when you walk into it. 🤷🏻‍♂️

✍🏻 A few days in Barcelona this week, part catching up with friends, part checking in on a real estate investment we made three years ago. The verdict? A classic mix. The good news: prices are up (no surprise there), and yields are still holding strong. The less good news: rent caps from the Catalan government are starting to kick in. It’s a familiar story… well-intentioned, but with predictable side effects. Squeeze returns too hard, and investment slows, refurbishment stalls… and suddenly you’ve solved affordability by making everything equally mediocre. Not quite the upgrade tenants had in mind. 🇪🇸

Capital, Courage, Cycle

👍🏻 Today marks a turning point in capital market history: Lise, a newly regulated stock exchange, has successfully enabled the first tokenised IPO in the defense sector. A new chapter begins… one where capital can finally flow efficiently toward Europe’s strategic SMEs, where it is needed most. ⚡️

👎🏻 Unfortunately, the biggest institutions often move like oil tankers… impressive, but not exactly built for sharp turns when it matters most. Meanwhile, smaller players, powered by determination and resilience, keep proving a simple truth: you don’t need size to achieve big things… just the courage to move when others hesitate. 🙄

✍🏻 I spent a few days in Budapest this week revisiting real estate investments made five years ago perfectly timed. With the recent political shift and the end of a long-standing regime, a new cycle is emerging: renewed stability, stronger alignment with the European Union, and a visible influx of international investors. The signal is clear… confidence is returning, demand is rising, and the market is heating up, positioning this moment as a strategic entry point for those who understand where the momentum is heading. 🇭🇺

Friends , Fury , Frequencies

👍🏻 Some friendships don’t need frequency to stay alive… they’re built on something deeper. Knowing someone since kindergarten means sharing a version of life that no one else truly understands. Decades later, after completely different paths, different worlds, and countless unshared moments, the connection is still there… intact, effortless. Seeing him in London for the first time feels less like a reunion and more like a quiet reminder: real friendship doesn’t fade, it simply waits… and picks up exactly where it left off. 🫱🏼‍🫲🏻

👎🏻 In what kind of world can the energy and decisions of one man, with a blond wig and orange skin, ripple out and shape the lives of half the planet? 😳

✍🏻 Different traditions have always tried to name and work with the invisible forces that shape how we feel and act. Practices like fire cutting or Reiki aren’t about mysticism for its own sake… they’re attempts to restore balance, to clear what feels blocked, and to reconnect body and mind through focused intention and presence. Whether one sees them as energy work or simply as powerful rituals of attention, they remind us of something essential: where focus goes, energy flows and sometimes, that alone is enough to shift everything. ⚡️

Markets , Mindset , Mechanics

👍🏻 A quiet shift in capital markets is taking shape: France is set to host what is the first fully tokenized IPO with Lise … a project we backed early at ACCURAFY4. Beyond the tech, this marks a structural evolution: lowering barriers for SMEs, simplifying investor access, and paving the way for faster, more inclusive, potentially 24/7 markets. If successful, this could redefine how companies go public… not just digitizing assets, but reshaping access to capital itself. 🚨

👎🏻 After more than two decades investing in real estate in France (at one point managing over a dozen rental properties across short-, medium-, and long-term strategies) I’m now closing the chapter. The last asset I’m holding, my very first acquisition in Lyon, is a strong one on paper, but a wave of tax changes, rent controls, energy regulations, insurance constraints, and finally continuous refurbishments to improve efficiency turned it into a disproportionate burden. When a single remaining property forces full administrative exposure and complexity, it stops being an investment and becomes friction. 🏠

✍🏻 A 20-year-old asked me this week whether he should leverage his student loan to invest in rental property… a smart instinct, especially in France where long-term, low-rate debt can work in your favor. On paper, it makes sense. But in reality, unless he can access off-market, undervalued deals, I wouldn’t invest in French real estate anymore, it’s become too complex for the returns. What I told him instead: his mindset is already his biggest asset. At his age, the real advantage is time and risk capacity… so rather than locking everything into property, he should explore a balanced approach with ETFs and selective exposure to high-potential SMEs. Because in the end, expecting high returns without taking risks is the only strategy that consistently underdelivers. 💰

Transition, Tech, Trust

👍🏻 Almost ready to operate from Mauritius … companies are set up, both corporate and private bank accounts are live, and everything is falling into place. Just one final step to go: a pending governmental approval before we fully switch on. 🇲🇺

👎🏻 Setting up a reliable global mobile plan while relocating outside Europe is surprisingly complex: you need to balance seamless connectivity, cost control, and flexibility across borders without overpaying or compromising efficiency. 🤯

✍🏻 The BBC has built its reputation on something increasingly rare: trust at scale. It once received complaints for broadcasting Big Ben a few seconds late… an anecdote that says everything about the level of precision audiences expect. That standard still holds. Under their new Director General, Matt Brittin, a former Google executive, the BBC continues to adapt to a faster, digital world while doubling down on credibility, notably through teams like BBC Verify, dedicated to fact-checking content before it reaches the public. In an age of instant information, their edge isn’t speed… it’s verification. 🚨

Time, Trust , Trajectories

👍🏻 One of my quiet luxuries is simple: choosing who I spend my time with. Time is the only real wealth we all hold in equal measure … yet we don’t all invest it equally well. So I try to spend it deliberately, with people who energise, challenge, or inspire. And when I get the chance to connect two people who would have never met otherwise that’s where it gets interesting. You never quite know what will come out of it… but often, that’s exactly how the best opportunities are born. 🫱🏻‍🫲🏾

👎🏻 When someone you truly value receives a strong external offer, you’re reminded it’s rarely just about money, but about timing, growth, and direction. I’ve always believed that if people stay, it’s because something real connects them … trust, purpose, and the journey we’re building together … while some opportunities are built more on short-term incentives than long-term alignment. And if someone chooses to leave, it’s not a loss to resist, but a path to respect. As entrepreneurs, we don’t hold on at all costs; we create environments people genuinely want to be part of… the rest is their call. 🤷🏻‍♂️

✍🏻 Banks don’t finance potential, they finance predictability. A steady corporate salary fits neatly into their risk models, which is why it unlocks credit so easily. Entrepreneurship, on the other hand, can create far greater long-term value, but with less “visible” income, making it harder to fit into traditional lending criteria. The irony is that risk is judged on stability, not on wealth creation. Yet beyond the numbers, there’s another layer: as an entrepreneur, you choose who you build with… your team, your partners, your culture … while in the corporate world, that choice is often made for you. And then one day, after a liquidity event, the equation flips… the same profile once seen as “uncertain” suddenly becomes highly desirable. Two different games … one about fitting the system, the other about building your own. ⚖️

Momentum , Mood , Mystique

👍🏻 Some encouraging progress this week: approval in principle for my Investor Permit in Mauritius, the bank accounts finally opening to start operating locally, and the first real estate development slowly approaching the finish line. None of these milestones happen overnight on the island but step by step the pieces are coming together. The to-do list is still long… but at least we’re now clearly walking in the right direction. 🌴

👎🏻 Is the UK slowly losing some of the momentum ? Real estate prices are softening in London, inflation still bites with every email now seems to start with the classic: “Dear valued customer, next month your bill will increase by 10%.” Even my osteopath told me he’s lost 30% of his clients… which might be the most unexpected economic indicator I’ve heard this year. Maybe it’s just a cycle… but it does feel like the mood of the country has shifted a little. 🇬🇧

✍🏻 Few people realise that Coutts has quietly been one of the most discreet power centers of British finance for more than three centuries. Its famous “Three Keys” crest originally symbolised the keys to the vault where clients’ fortunes, and perhaps a few well-guarded secrets, were kept. In the 18th century it reportedly helped finance the famously extravagant lifestyle of Georgiana Cavendish, while in more modern times it counted Queen Elizabeth II among its clients. But the real mystique of Coutts isn’t about wealth or prestige. It’s about something rarer: discretion. For centuries the bank has lived by a simple rule, when it comes to private banking, the most valuable asset isn’t money… it’s trust. 🗝️

Success, Signals & Silver

👍🏻 Most “overnight successes” are simply the visible result of years of disciplined, often invisible work. What looks today like a successful capital increase for Santexpat.fr is in reality the compounding effect of five years spent building the right foundations: a talented team, solid business model, strong commercial development, rigorous financial structure, disciplined cash management, and careful preparation for scale. Acceleration is rarely created in the moment; it is earned through the quiet decisions made long before the spotlight arrives. 🚀

👎🏻 If tax optimisation is the only reason you choose where to live and work, don’t be surprised when reality eventually sends you the bill. Fiscal advantages matter, of course, but they are rarely enough on their own. At the same time, when entrepreneurs and value creators start leaving a country en masse, it’s usually not a coincidence; it’s a signal. Talent and capital move quietly, but they tend to move for good reasons. 😉

✍🏻 The Bulgari Hotel Group London is a fascinating example of how a heritage luxury brand translates its DNA into hospitality. When Bulgari opened it in 2012 in Knightsbridge, insiders were sceptical. Yet Bulgari did something subtle: instead of copying Italian palazzos, it built the hotel around materials (silver, black granite, Vicenza stone) that echo the brand’s jewellery craftsmanship. The hotel reportedly uses more silver in its interiors than any other hotel in London, a nod to Bulgari’s origins as a Roman silversmith in the 19th century. And given that silver prices have risen roughly +175% since 2012, one could say that, purely on a materials basis, the building might quietly be one of London’s most expensive “precious-metal-backed” properties. 💎

Structure, Succession, Strategy

👍🏻 A week in Mauritius, not for holidays but for foundations. The next chapter doesn’t start with a grand announcement; it starts with execution. Schools secured. Local companies incorporated. Bank account nearly operational. Occupation Permit in motion. And the future home rising steadily from blueprint to reality. The process has only just begun, but momentum is already visible… proof that relocation isn’t a dream you declare, it’s a system you quietly build. 🌴

👎🏻 One day, the companies we’ve supported for years will continue their journey with new partners, new chapters, new momentum. That’s the natural order of growth. We never built alongside them for applause or permanence, but because we believed in what they could become. Some will remember the long road we walked together and acknowledge it. Others will move forward without looking back. Both are part of the story. What matters is knowing we showed up, contributed meaningfully, and helped build foundations strong enough for them to keep going, with or without us. 🤷🏻‍♂️

✍🏻 Mauritius is steadily becoming one of the most strategic lifestyle–investment hubs in the Indian Ocean . The North, especially Grand Baie, is capturing strong European and South African capital through Smart Cities, marinas, and premium residences combining yield with residency optionality. The West (Tamarin–Black River) remains a magnet for luxury lifestyle buyers and remote founders, while Moka is emerging as a long-term infrastructure-driven play. With political stability, a 15% flat tax, and sustained demand for quality coastal assets, Mauritius is shifting from a holiday destination to a structured, internationally connected property ecosystem where micro-location still defines the real upside. 🇲🇺

Precision, Paperwork, Prompts

👍🏻 My first networking evening in Mauritius felt like stepping into a perfectly engineered watch that somehow learned how to dance barefoot. The Swiss International Chamber of Commerce managed to blend alpine precision with island rhythm. It’s a rare combination: efficiency without stiffness, ambition without noise. If this is what “doing business in paradise” looks like, I’m starting to understand that growth here might follow the same formula … disciplined foundations, relaxed execution. 🇨🇭🇲🇺

👎🏻 Relocation looks glamorous on Instagram. In reality, it starts in waiting rooms and bank branches. A life-changing move to Mauritius doesn’t begin with turquoise water … it begins with blood tests, compliance forms, and politely explaining your existence to three different administrators. It’s less “tropical leap” and more “paperwork marathon.” Painful? Slightly. Necessary? Absolutely. 🌴

✍🏻 Whether we like it or not, AI has quietly moved into the neighborhood… yes, even on a small island in the middle of the Indian Ocean. It’s no longer a Silicon Valley toy; it’s electricity. And like electricity, you can use it to light the room… or to stop walking altogether. One option is to treat it like a magic wand: outsource the thinking, get instant answers, feel powerful… until your own cognitive muscles start to atrophy from comfort. The other option is less glamorous but far more interesting: use it as a questioning engine. Throw it your “dark matter” topics — tax, legal, strategy — and let it challenge your assumptions. You won’t become the world’s leading expert, but you will become sharper at framing problems. AI shouldn’t replace your brain; it should be your sparring partner. The future won’t belong to those who have the best prompts, but to those who still have well-trained neurons. 🧠

Preparation , Precision , Perspective

👍🏻 Mauritius is no longer a “one day” idea … it’s turning into stamped certificates, incorporation documents, and residence permit forms in progress. The companies are officially born, the admin machine is moving, and in a few days I’m boarding a flight to check on the school, the building progress, and meet the people who will soon stop being “new contacts” and start being neighbors. Relocations don’t happen in a single bold decision … they crystallize through paperwork, site visits, and quiet momentum. Preparation mode: fully activated. 🏝️

👎🏻 You proudly sign up for “premium, comprehensive, total peace-of-mind” insurance. You pay the premium. You feel protected. Then the moment you actually need it… suddenly you discover a fascinating new ecosystem called terms, exclusions, exceptional circumstances, and sub-clauses written in font size 6. Insurers don’t deny your claim … they simply introduce you to creative interpretation. The real product isn’t coverage; it’s confidence. Until it isn’t. 🙄

✍🏻 Every time you send an AI prompt, it’s tempting to imagine a data center somewhere gasping for air. In reality, a single query usually uses just a few watt-hours … roughly the energy your kettle burns in a few seconds, not a full tea round for the office. Boiling the whole kettle? About 0.1 kWh. One smart prompt? 40 times less. The real issue isn’t your question … it’s billions of them at scale. The better question: if AI saves you three meetings and a 40-slide PowerPoint, isn’t that the most energy-efficient cup of tea you’ve ever made? ☕

Citizenship , Commitment , Cues

👍🏻 The week I wrote about millionaires leaving the UK (link in comments), I passed the Life in the UK test. I now know when the Magna Carta was signed, can name an impressive number of monarchs, and have strong opinions on parliamentary history. More importantly, I’ve mastered the essentials: queueing without complaint, apologising on instinct, and confidently calling rain “a bit of drizzle.” A flawless score with Winston Churchill doing some heavy lifting in the background. 🇬🇧

👎🏻 Starting the British citizenship process really clarifies the word commitment. Yes, it’s “online”… meaning hours glued to a screen, hundreds of questions, a small forest of documents and the privilege of paying ~£2,000 for the full experience. Commitment confirmed. 💷

✍🏻 I’m French 🇫🇷 by birth, currently digging into my Italian 🇮🇹 roots, halfway through the British 🇬🇧 citizenship maze, and eyeing Mauritius 🇲🇺 as a future chapter by conviction. One thing this journey clarifies fast: passports aren’t about flags or fast lanes … they’re about belonging. Time logged, value delivered, rules followed, patience stretched. Each country asks its own question: the UK tests your stamina (and attention span), Italy checks your family tree (several generations deep), Mauritius looks for real substance and long-term intent. Different paths, same rule: citizenship isn’t a click … it’s earned, slowly and seriously.

🙏🏻 Special thanks this week to Lucie , Karim , Vivek , Mark , Raphaël , Vicky and my 81-year-old British neighbour Peter for kindly acting as one referee for my citizenship application.

Trust , Transfer , Technology

👍🏻 Turns out some of the best value creation doesn’t happen in spreadsheets, but around a fondue pot next to Churchill with a cigar in hand. No pitches, no pressure just entrepreneurs and investors dropping the armor, sharing stories, and letting trust do the work. Sometimes the cosiest tables are the most efficient deal rooms. 🫕

👎🏻 When LMB Aerospace, a supplier embedded in core French defense programs, can be sold abroad despite expert warnings, sovereignty becomes a slogan, not a strategy. Golden shares may soothe consciences, but they don’t replace real control. The deeper loss here isn’t ownership … it’s credibility in how seriously we protect what we call “strategic.” 🙄

✍🏻 This week was a reminder that real sovereignty doesn’t shout … it engineers. Visiting Nexson-Group felt like stepping into an industrial matryoshka: they design the products, build the robots that make them, and even run their own OS, ERP and CRM. Heat exchangers are the output … autonomy is the strategy. Mind-blowing, and quietly powerful. Huge thanks to Charles and Baptiste for the visit and the short but inspiring deep dive 👏

Patience, Process, Payoff

👍🏻 For 3 years, we’ve had a cacao plantation in the Dominican Republic. Every January, the ritual with my daughter is the same: make our own chocolate. Long process. Sticky hands. Zero shortcuts. Still one of the most rewarding investments I know. 🍫

👎🏻 Never ask large institutions to help you take risks. Their job is to make decisions so complex that you end up doing… nothing. 😵‍💫

✍🏻 Watching the World Competition of Choux Farci, organised by Bernardaud, was a great reminder that entrepreneurship isn’t about chasing novelty… it’s about mastering the obvious. Same dish. Same rules. Totally different outcomes. Constraints don’t limit excellence; they reveal it. Partners, Perspective, Pragmatism

👍🏻 Spent the week with my business partners doing what we do best: zooming out, zooming in, and pretending we’re “almost done” with the plan for the next few months. Local moves, global ambition… and the real KPI? Only building all this with people you actually enjoy spending time with. Turns out, that’s the ultimate growth strategy 🚀

👎🏻 Back to reality after our annual partner break … minds refreshed, batteries full… and then Europe reminds us it’s winter… Cold, grey, and suddenly not as charming as it used to be. 🥶

✍🏻 Investing in Europe, especially in strategic assets, remains a core long-term conviction. But let’s be honest: when geopolitics get noisy, smart capital doesn’t argue, it diversifies. Spotting opportunities in places like Dominican Republic and Mauritius isn’t about being exotic … it’s about being pragmatic. Sometimes risk management just happens to come with better weather 🌴

Cigars, Chaos & Citizenship

👍🏻 Fifth year in a row hosting our partners’ seminar in Cabarete: reviewing wins, owning mistakes, and shaping what’s next… all with a glass of rum, a cigar, and a front-row seat to our cacao trees quietly doing their thing. Turns out long-term strategy works better when nature reminds you to think in seasons, not quarters 🌱

👎🏻 This week my luggage clearly had a different life plan: while I went London → Frankfurt → Puerto Plata, it opted for London → Frankfurt → Zurich → a 3-day personal development retreat before finally rejoining me. Bold strategy, poor communication. Lesson learned: always keep essentials with you… suitcases love autonomy ✈️

✍🏻 After 15 years in London, I finally started the British citizenship process. What I learned? Becoming British is less about drinking tea and more about surviving a pop quiz most Brits would fail, proving your English level (again), and accepting that patience is a paid feature. Process: book the Life in the UK test → memorise kings, dates and laws no one discusses at dinner → pass → prove you speak English → pay a four-figure fee → wait politely → keep saying “no worries” while refreshing your inbox 🇬🇧

Flow, Friction & Forward

👍🏻 Enjoyed a very British closing chapter of the year: a Live Aid musical, a day spa to recover from 2025, the New Year parade on the Mall… all while booking my next flights to Mauritius. A perfect mix of nostalgia, self-care, spectacle and forward planning. Turns out balance is just knowing when to applaud, when to unplug, and when to check boarding gates. 💂

👎🏻 Winter and the Eurostar remain locked in a long-term misunderstanding. Every year, cold weather arrives right on schedule and somehow still catches a high-speed, cross-border icon by surprise. Delays, cancellations, and the famous “exceptional conditions” announcement have become as seasonal as mulled wine. Proof that even cutting-edge infrastructure can forget one basic assumption: winter tends to come back. 🚄❄️

✍🏻 Live Aid remains one of the clearest reminders that impact scales when purpose meets execution. In 1985, artists didn’t just raise awareness … they mobilised attention, trust, and collective action in real time, long before social media. What’s striking is that nothing of that magnitude has really happened since: audiences fragmented, causes multiplied, platforms monetised attention, and consensus became harder to build. The learning still holds though … when a message is simple, the cause is clear, and momentum is shared, people don’t just listen, they act. Influence isn’t about volume, it’s about rare alignment. 🎸

👎🏻 Christmas season meant for slowing down that turns into a logistics sprint … planes, plans, obligations. 🎄

✍🏻 China exported $6 billion worth of Christmas decorations in 2024, so around 90% of Christmas decorations worldwide. While Christmas celebrates local traditions and warmth, most of our baubles have travelled more than we did this holiday. Globalisation really does love a good tree. 🇨🇳

Builders, Budgets & Breakthroughs

👍🏻 On Monday was the 15th edition of The ACCURAFY4 Dinners and that reminded me why community matters as much as capital. Bringing together entrepreneurs, athletes and builders around the parallels between elite sport and entrepreneurship … discipline, resilience, mindset … created rare, honest conversations and genuine connection. Sharing personal journeys and passions shifted the perspective beyond performance and numbers, toward something more human and collective. A strong reminder that building companies, like sport, is as much physical and mental as it is strategic. 🤝

👎🏻 On Wednesday at the Sénat listening to the 2026 budget debate felt like watching a perfectly tuned orchestra replaying an old score. Taxes up, costs down, everyone on tempo. After 20 years abroad, what struck me most was the silence between the notes: no one asking how to keep entrepreneurs or investors willing to stay. The issue isn’t how to divide the pie, but how to keep it baking. Same instruments, same melody… wrong composition. 🙄

✍🏻 Yesterday at Google , I was attending at a round table with alain aspect and Michel Devoret , Nobel Prize physicists (2022 and 2025). Listening to them felt like talking to explorers who set sail forty years ago, when the map was blank, the sea empty, and almost no one was watching. Back then, quantum was a green field with no crowd, no competition, and very little interest. Today, the same field looks more like a packed stadium: quantum and AI are the stars everyone tracks, circling each other, still warming up, with use cases and scale not fully written yet. Bridges, Balance & Breakthroughs

👍🏻 This week’s Global Leadership Program felt like a high-speed masterclass across Europe … five cities, countless conversations, and one clear takeaway: real leadership happens on the ground. From ASML’s chipmaking cathedral to ESA’s space labs, through EOB in The Hague and tech energy in Amsterdam, every stop proved that ideas grow when you show up where things actually happen. We built new bridges, stretched perspectives, sparked opportunities… and logged about 20,000 steps in the process. 🚀

👎🏻 Finding the right balance in supporting entrepreneurs remains one of the trickiest parts of the job. Too hands-on, and you risk suffocating momentum; too hands-off, and you drift from the shared vision you’re supposed to build together. Most weeks, the equilibrium holds… until the day it doesn’t. And then you’re faced with the inevitable: tough conversations and even tougher decisions to keep things moving forward. 🤯

✍🏻 ASML might just be Europe’s most strategic tech asset … the only company on Earth capable of building the lithography machines that power the world’s most advanced chips. With €28bn in revenue and over €4bn poured into R&D last year, it sits at the very heart of a global value chain where its DUV and EUV systems still have no credible rivals. This unrivalled position comes with geopolitical pressure: governments compete to secure access, while Europe sees ASML as a cornerstone of its technological sovereignty. And despite its dominance, the company faces two main challenges: navigating the future of Taiwan… and hiring enough world-class talent to keep expanding a frontier only they currently know how to reach. ⚛️

Wines, Worries & Wins

👍🏻 Between rounds of pitching our Sovereignty Pre-IPO fund to family offices and private bankers in Geneva, I slipped away for a gathering of the Commanderie de Bordeaux Suisse Romande. We tasted wines so rare they probably need their own NDAs. A good reminder that investing and winemaking share the same secret: if it matures too fast, it’s probably not worth it. 🍷

👎🏻 I thought France taxing water and toilets was peak absurdity until the UK showed up with its new budget, hiking taxes on dividends, wealth, property and quietly freezing thresholds so everyone pays more without noticing. On one side, Bercy wants to meter your basic needs; on the other, Westminster is rummaging through your pockets with a smile. Two countries, one talent: inventing new ways to make taxpayers feel like they’re in a comedy sketch. And yes, the French “comfort tax” is paused… but like the best bad jokes, it’s bound to come back. 💸

✍🏻 Digging into Cuba’s economic transition was a reminder that even the most rigid systems eventually crack under their own inefficiencies. After 60 years of state-controlled imports, the island is now relying on private MIPYMEs to feed the population … a shift that has created a rare window for real trade-finance opportunities. What struck me most is how scarcity, not abundance, is driving innovation: a handful of licensed operators now hold the keys to a multibillion-dollars market of essential goods with fast turnover and strong margins. It’s one of those moments where macro-economics, geopolitics, and boots-on-the-ground logistics collide and where disciplined investors can actually create impact while capturing value. 🇨🇺

Learning Curves & Cloudy Realities

👍🏻 My daughter took her first-ever 11+ exam this week… a true rite of passage into the great sorting hat of the school system. While the test still decides who gets the “golden seats,” I can’t stop thinking we’re grading kids for a world that no longer exists. The future of learning will be shaped not by exams, but by curiosity, creativity, and the courage to rethink how we learn. 🎓

👎🏻 Independence is great… until you realise it comes with a built-in chaos subscription. Just when you think you’ve solved everything, life quietly hits “refresh” on the problem list. 🔄

✍🏻 The backbone of AI isn’t as virtual as it seems. Behind every ChatGPT or Gemini lies a fragile, geopolitically charged value chain: around 70% of rare-earth minerals are mined in China, and over 80% are refined there, feeding the chips built by few leaders like NVIDIA and ASML. These power roughly 12,000 data centres worldwide, nearly half located in the U.S., all interconnected by 640 undersea cables… many co-owned by tech giants such as Google. As those cables age and rare-metal tensions rise, we’re reminded that beneath the “cloud,” the world’s digital future still rests on very tangible, and very political, ground. ⚡

When Curiosity Goes Global

👍🏻 This week kicked off my new adventure with the IHEIE - Institut des Hautes Études pour l'Innovation et l'Entrepreneuriat Global Leadership Program… 28 days spread over the next 9 months, exploring the world’s most innovative and entrepreneurial ecosystems with a crew of curious minds. It’s basically a world tour for grown-up students who still believe learning beats lounging.💡

👎🏻 Sometimes I wonder if France secretly runs a loyalty program… but in reverse. The more years you spend abroad creating value, the fewer perks you get if you ever try to come back. Instead of saying “Bienvenue, let’s build together,” it feels more like “Ah, you succeeded elsewhere? Perfect… stay there and pay taxes over Zoom.” 💸

✍🏻 I had the opportunity to met Théau, the founder of Alice & Bob, quantum visionary who speaks about qubits the way poets talk about love. His passion is contagious, his vision limitless… and the road to get there looks like a quantum maze itself. For once, Europe jumped into a disruptive tech before Silicon Valley did… now the real challenge is to keep the balance between quantum innovation and sovereignty without collapsing the wave. ✨

From Home Alone to Fully Aligned

👍🏻 Once in a while, life gives you a few days just for yourself. It’s a good habit to hit pause, clear your head, realign your goals, and let your mind wander a bit for the benefit of your soul. This week, I was home alone… no burglars, no traps, just a laptop, some silence, and a surprisingly productive reboot. 💭

👎🏻 In business, changing direction mid-deal might seem like smart flexibility, but it can quietly shake confidence. People invest in clarity and consistency, not moving targets. Every word you give builds (or breaks) your long-term credibility. Short-term wins fade fast… but long-term vision compounds like interest… quietly, and powerfully. 🤝

✍🏻 The art of distribution in cinema isn’t just about how many copies you release… it’s strategy with a touch of psychology. Each copy is a bet: one more screen, one more shot at attention. Too few, and your masterpiece becomes that film “everyone meant to see.” Too many, and you’re lighting up empty theatres. The real magic lies in balance… aligning ambition with audience, marketing with momentum. Because whether in film or business, smart reach turns visibility into impact… and attention into lasting success. 🎬

New Paths, Old Habits & Unlikely Lessons

👍🏻 Some weeks, like this one, are intense but truly rewarding. New long-term partnerships, new promising investments, new unexpected connections… and new horizons ahead. All of it adds up to one thing: real progress forward. 🤘🏼

👎🏻 Why are some lawyers so damn risk-averse — or maybe just too greedy — that the moment you decide to end their services, their first move is to try to scare you instead of letting you go professionally❓

✍🏻 Trump’s fortune pulled off its own campaign slogan… “Make My Net Worth Great Again.” A few billion richer thanks to Truth Social and Trumpanomics, he’s proving some presidents grow their legacy, others their bank account. The only headline he skipped this week? Sarkozy’s jail time … maybe he’s reading it as a spoiler alert. 👀

Books, Breakups & Blockchain:
A Week of Venture Lessons

👍🏻 When I started writing Venture Beyond, my goals were pretty humble … finish the book, survive the editing marathon, and share a few CVC insights without anyone dozing off mid-page. The marketing plan? A bold mix of word of mouth and blind optimism. Fast forward to today: 5,000+ copies out in the wild. Grateful, humbled, and still pleasantly surprised that so many chose to Venture Beyond with me. 🙏🏼

👎🏻 Watching people handle business crises the same way they handled their breakups — denial, blame, and drama — is both sad and entertaining. Karma never skips a beat. 🤡

Innovating and Investing in Stability

👍🏻 Spending a few days in Switzerland with investors and entrepreneurs was truly refreshing. Though the country feels a bit too calm for my taste, it’s no surprise that Switzerland ranks as the world’s most innovative nation according to the World Intellectual Property Organisation’s 2025 Global Innovation Index.🇨🇭

👎🏻 7 Prime Ministers in 7 years that’s not a government, it’s a relay race! From one resignation to the next reshuffle, Matignon is starting to look like a coworking space with a short lease. At this rate, the next one might as well install a revolving door and keep the coffee warm for the successor. 🇫🇷

✍🏻 In a world where tensions rise faster than interest rates, Mauritius has quietly become the calm eye of the global storm. Ranked among Africa’s top 3 most competitive economies, with over 40 double tax treaties and a 3% to 15% corporate tax rate, the island offers rare geopolitical neutrality and fiscal clarity. Add to that a 95% bilingual population (English & French), British-style legal system, and French cultural flair… and you’ve got London stability meets Riviera lifestyle. While Europe argues about inflation and Asia tightens capital flows, Mauritius keeps attracting investors, family offices, and founders looking for sun, structure, and serenity… all in one time zone. 🇲🇺

Kindness Scales, Negativity Fails

👍🏻 Helping my daughter prepare her application to become Head of Pupils reminded me that leadership starts young. Her first idea? A simple box for sharing suggestions to make the school kinder, better, and more fun. Sometimes, the purest form of leadership is giving others a voice. 🤩

👎🏻 The older I get, the less space I give to negativity. Silence speaks louder and karma always whispers back. 🤫

✍🏻 Women still hold less than a quarter of tech jobs in Europe and about 35% in the U.S. while they’re nearly half the workforce. Leadership? 2% tech founders are women. Yet closing this gap could boost Europe’s GDP. Diversity in tech it’s good business… and maybe the ultimate bug fix for the old boys’ club. 😉

Beyond Capital, Beyond Borders

👍🏻 This week in Luxembourg, ACCURAFY4 and PRAGMATIK PARTNERS proved that investment isn’t just about money... it’s about rolling up sleeves. A sharp roundtable with founders and friends reminded us that true value comes from time, trust, and real action beyond capital. 🇱🇺

👎🏻 In France, the Zucman tax may sound fair in theory, but in a country already playing Olympic-level taxation, it punishes risk-takers, drives talent and capital away, and undermines the very innovation and value creation the nation needs. 💸 (Zucman tax for dummies by Éric 👉🏻 https://lnkd.in/eDdgs952)

✍🏻 The Traveller’s Club in London has a little-known rule: to join, you had to prove you’d travelled at least 500 miles from the Channel. (In today’s terms, that’s less about jet lag and more about storytelling skills). Over the years, it became the stage for explorers returning with news of “new” pyramids, diplomats trading secrets over cigars, and Churchill himself sharing dinner with Lawrence of Arabia. The moral? Long before LinkedIn posts and pitch decks, credibility was earned with a passport stamp and a really good story. 🗿

👍🏻 This week marked the 12th edition of Accurafy’s Connect Dinners. A unique time-lapse where investors, entrepreneurs, government leaders, and corporate innovators come together to exchange ideas, spark collaborations, and strengthen our ecosystem. All in a hidden spot in Paris. 🤫

👎🏻 Forget the pitch deck… if we can’t survive lunch or dinner together, the deal is already off the table. 🍽️

Unity as Strategy in Times of Turmoil

👍🏻 Rugby taught me a key leadership principle: collective play beats individual effort. In business, as in sport, the real win comes from helping your team succeed without expecting anything in return. 🏉

👎🏻 The signs of turbulence are everywhere: strikes and a wave of HNWIs exiting the UK; social unrest and a fifth government in France in 2 years; Russian drones breaching Poland’s skies; across Europe, the foundations of democracy feel challenged at their very roots. 🇪🇺

✍🏻 Despite Brexit being sold as a way to curb immigration, the UK now employs more foreign workers than before. Non-EU employment rose from 3.1m in 2016 to 3.9m in 2022, and migrants now hold about 20% of UK jobs, up from 12% a decade ago. The paradox: Brexit ended free movement for EU citizens, but overall migrant labour increased, just with a shift from EU to non-EU workers. 🇬🇧

Navigating Chaos with Clarity

👍🏻 Proud moment this week: my third book, Who Taught You That ? is now out. It’s a guide to help parents look at education through a fresh lens asking the right questions.

👎🏻 This week’s events highlight a shifting geopolitical balance: Eastern nations signaling unity around China and Russia, the US tightening into self-interest, and Europe once again mired in political and economic disarray. In contrast, the Indian Ocean increasingly feels like one of the few calm harbors left.

✍🏻 Education is meant to spark a fire, not confine a child to a box. As parents, our role is to cultivate curiosity, resilience, and creativity… qualities that will serve our children far beyond grades in an unpredictable world.

Expanding with Confidence in Mauritius

👍🏻 Our first property development project in Mauritius is progressing exactly as planned. This track record strengthens our conviction as we prepare for the next phase of expansion. 🏗️

👎🏻 Every bold move comes with trade-offs. Some will be tough, but none impossible. The big picture is overwhelmingly positive, and what’s missing isn’t a gap, it’s an opportunity we’ll create. 🌱

✍🏻 The Africa Wealth Report 2025, released on 26 August 2025, shows Mauritius ranked as the 6th wealthiest country in Africa, yet leading the continent in high‑net‑worth individual (HNWI) growth: an impressive +63% increase over the past decade, surpassing other nations such as Rwanda (+48%) and Morocco (+40%). The island’s surge is attributed to its political stability, tax‑efficient regime, and a robust residence-by-investment programme, all drawing affluent individuals and capital into the market. In particular, its Black River district has experienced a phenomenal 105% growth in millionaire numbers, making it Africa’s fastest‑expanding millionaire hotspot, fueled in part by South Africans relocating for lifestyle and fiscal advantages, with luxury property markets in areas like Tamarin commanding prices around USD 4,500 per m² 🇲🇺

The Treasure Beyond the Horizon

👍🏻 Cruising through a crystal-blue lagoon, only to be greeted by a dolphin and her baby right in front of us. 🐬

👎🏻 Radical choices are rarely simple. Reason invites us to weigh pros and cons, while instinct whispers a truth beyond logic. The real challenge is deciding which voice to trust. ❓

✍🏻 “Le Chercheur d’Or” is a tale of dreams and longing, where Alexis sets out to chase a legendary treasure in Mauritius. Yet, beyond the gold, what he truly seeks is wonder: the innocence of childhood, the call of freedom, and the embrace of the island’s dazzling beauty. Le Clézio captures the heartbeat of adventure and the ache of desire, turning Alexis’s quest into a mirror of every soul searching for meaning and belonging. 📖

Paradise still open. Entry fee revised

👍🏻 Back in Mauritius but this time, it’s not just for the white sand and rum.
Between business exploration, school visits, and a few quiet meetings, there’s a bigger picture forming… Stay tuned, something exciting is brewing 🏝️

👎🏻 Twelve hours to reach paradise… and if you want a comfortable seat, be ready to trade an arm (and maybe a leg) for it! ✈️

✍🏻 Mauritius grew 4.7% in 2024 and cooled inflation to 2.5% but with debt still high, the 2025 budget decided it was time to “pass the hat.” Personal taxes now run 0% to 20%, with a temporary 15% “thank you for being rich” levy on ultra-high earners. Corporates get their own treat: a 10% minimum tax in some sectors and a shiny new QDMTT (Qualified Domestic Minimum Top-up Tax) to keep global tax police happy. Paradise is still open for business, just expect the welcome drink to come with a receipt. 💸

From Da Vinci’s Lab to Tomorrow’s Capital

👍🏻 Honored to contribute to Les Echos on how venture capital is shifting toward a future where sovereignty isn’t optional, it’s foundational. 🗞️

👎🏻 Iceland is the only country where even mosquitoes can’t scale. Turns out, real sovereignty means controlling your borders… even the micro ones.🦟

✍🏻 Tucked away in the Loire Valley, the Château du Clos Lucé wasn’t just Leonardo da Vinci’s final residence, it was his 16th-century version of a sovereign innovation bunker. Invited by King Francis I in 1516 (basically the original startup investor), Leonardo showed up with notebooks, blueprints, and the Mona Lisa. Hidden tunnels connected the château to the royal residence so the king could visit privately… or maybe just avoid palace politics. Rumor has it Leonardo spent his final days perfecting wild inventions in his underground lab from flying machines to early prototypes of the future. 🎨

Out of Office, Out of Luck, Out of Names

👍🏻 Day one off: you’re technically on a break, but still mentally replying to emails and making to-do lists in your head. Day two: you start to remember you’re a human, not a robot, and begin filtering out the crap that clutters your brain. By day three? Nirvana. You’ve forgotten your passwords, your job, and possibly your own last name… but hey, you’re finally relaxing. 🧘‍♂️

👎🏻 Everything was perfect: flawless due diligence, all documents in order, handshake-ready… and then, just two days before signing the SPA, the buyers pulled out. No reason given. We just lost two months and now get the joy of starting all over again with new buyers. 😤

✍🏻 Vichy may be famous for spa water and pastel charm, but beneath the soothing surface lies a history with bite. Once the unlikely capital of WWII’s collaborationist regime, it also became a hotbed for Resistance whispers… rebels hiding in plain sight between mineral sips. Even its iconic pastilles were born from war: crafted to help Napoleon’s troops stomach army rations. And here’s the kicker: Vichy doesn’t even own the rights to its own name. That’s right, anyone can slap “Vichy” on a brand, bottle, or bathrobe. 🍬

Tug, Tech & Tap

👍🏻 Full of grit and focus, my daughter gives it her all pulling with heart, strength, and determination. A perfect reminder that showing up with passion is already a win. 💪

👎🏻 Car innovation is amazing, we’ve got sensors for everything, voice commands, even parking assist, but good luck fixing anything yourself. These days, popping the hood just means staring at a sleek engine cover that says “Do Not Touch.” The real mechanic? A laptop with a magic diagnostic box that speaks fluent car. And half the time, the issue is nothing more than a forgotten reset … your car’s basically throwing a tantrum because someone didn’t click “OK” in its digital diary. 🧑🏻‍🔧

✍🏻 The London Underground’s payment system is easily one of the slickest in the world… right up there with the likes of Tokyo’s precision or Singapore’s spotless tech. But while those might wow you with punctuality and silence, London wins on payment wizardry: just tap your card or phone and glide through the gates like royalty. No paper tickets, no reload stress, and it even calculates the cheapest fare by the end of the day. It’s like having a budget-savvy butler in your pocket. And if you tap in by mistake? No drama, refunds are just a few clicks away. Try getting that kind of grace in New York. 🚇

Building the Future, Inside and Out

👍🏻 Exciting progress on our flagship project in hashtagMauritius ... not just another high-end development, but a bold step toward a new model of living: affordable, profitable, and self-sustaining housing. We’re rethinking real estate to balance lifestyle, impact, and long-term value because the future of housing isn’t just about buildings, it’s about better ways of living. 🇲🇺

👎🏻 Just spent the GDP of a small country on my mid-century health check: labs, scans, monitors… basically a VIP lab rat. All clear, but here’s the real ROI: your health is your top asset. Prioritise prevention, extend your healthspan, and make check-ups as routine as board meetings. Ready for the next 50 years, or at least the next croissant. 🥐

✍🏻 BYD, backed by Warren Buffett, has emerged as a global leader in the hashtagEV market, overtaking Tesla in sales and expanding swiftly beyond China. Its vertically integrated approach (producing batteries, chips, and even its own shipping fleet) gives it a powerful edge in cost and scalability. However, BYD’s aggressive global expansion, especially into Europe, Latin America, and Southeast Asia, is drawing increased scrutiny from Western regulators over concerns about unfair subsidies, geopolitical friction, and potentially hidden debt risks. https://lnkd.in/eNptyT_w 🇨🇳

Keep the Inner Circle Tight

👍🏻 With age comes clarity sometimes even wisdom. These days, I spend my time with those I genuinely cherish, the ones who share my rhythm and vision. As for the rest? Life’s too short for mismatched energy.

👎🏻 In tough moments, setting a clear stop-loss isn’t just smart, it’s survival. But here’s the kicker: if you don’t spell it out loud and clear for everyone involved, don’t be surprised when someone forgets and drives the whole thing off a cliff.

✍🏻 Hôtel de Crillon isn’t just a five-star hotel, it’s Versailles with a check-in desk and slightly better Wi-Fi. Perched on Place de la Concorde, this 18th-century palace has hosted everyone from Marie Antoinette, who came for piano lessons, to Leonard Bernstein, who allegedly composed in his suite wearing only a bathrobe and genius-level confidence. Rumor has it there’s a secret passage under the hotel used by royals to sneak out when soirées got too political or too boring. And if walls could talk? They’d spill more tea than a Versailles salon. Crillon is where luxury naps while history gossips.

50 shades of heat

👍🏻 Haven’t roamed like this in ages! Monday found me gazing at the Statue of Liberty with daughter and wife; Tuesday swept me back across the Atlantic to London’s heatwave; and by Thursday, I’ll be zipping through Paris en route to the sun-kissed South of France, raising a glass (or more) with my old pale as he hits the big 5-0 🥂✈️

👎🏻 I honestly don’t know how else to prove my friendship than by enduring a 14-hour odyssey from London to Le Lavandou. Kicked things off at 4 a.m., only to be greeted by a delayed train with no AC during on a heatwave day, no less. Let’s just say I arrived half-baked but fully committed! 🔥🥵

✍🏻 Hitting 50 is like being the captain of a ship that’s seen a few storms… the paint’s still holding, but it’s time to check the engine room before a pipe bursts mid-voyage. Your health check-up is your annual docking: fuel quality, deep-sea sonar, tight hatch inspection, and a full radar sweep. But here’s the plot twist: this isn’t just about keeping your ship afloat. It’s about staying seaworthy for your crew who still think you’re unsinkable. Do the check-up, avoid the iceberg. ⚓🩺

NYC : Magic, Money & Mystery

👍🏻 This week, I did something radical: paused life for 5 days. No school runs, no meetings, just a proper out of office. I took my 10-year-old on her first-ever trip to NYC (cue pizza, skyscrapers, and “are we in a movie?” moments), caught up with old friends, and actually remembered what joy feels like without a calendar invite. Highly recommend. 10/10. Would do again. 🗽✨

👎🏻 New York City is a blast … until the bill arrives. Thanks to inflation, mystery taxes, and tip requests that pop up faster than a Broadway encore (even when no one actually did anything), the price you see is more of a teaser than a total. You’ll need a calculator, a strong heart, and maybe a small loan to enjoy that $6 coffee that somehow rings up at $9. Transparency? That left town with your budget. Welcome to NYC … where even the tip jar has a side hustle. 💸🍎

✍🏻 Did you know that beneath New York’s polished skyline lies a city of hidden layers and mind-blowing stories? From a secret presidential train platform under the Waldorf Astoria to an abandoned luxury subway station frozen in time below City Hall, NYC holds mysteries that even locals walk past daily. Entire neighborhoods like Seneca Village, once a thriving Black community, were erased to build Central Park, while whispering walls in Grand Central let you hear secrets from across the room. New York isn’t just a city, it’s an ever-evolving archive of human ambition, reinvention, and untold history. It reminds us that what’s visible is only half the story, just like in business and innovation. 👀✨

10 Years, One Unicorn, Zero Patience

👍🏻 Exactly 10 years ago, a tiny human named Lucy crashed into my life and instantly became the boss. Since then, it’s been a wild ride of bedtime stories, snack negotiations, and deep life chats about unicorns. Now we’re entering the teenage years… wish me luck, I hear it’s like parenting on hard mode! 🎂

👎🏻 Private healthcare prices in London have officially lost the plot… £405 for a basic blood test?! Sure, the waiting room looks like a boutique hotel and the coffee flows endlessly, but at that rate, Starbucks might want to pivot into diagnostics. ⚕️

✍🏻 It’s wild how fast ideas turn into action with an AI assistant by your side! What started as a casual thought… “maybe I should make some flyers for my books” …quickly snowballed into a full mini campaign: eye-catching designs, smart QR codes, landing pages, and slim business cards, all wrapped up in under an hour and already on their way to print. Feels less like work, more like magic with a side of strategy. 🦾

Once limited to military and scientific missions, today’s satellites enable global internet, real-time climate monitoring, navigation, and secure communications. Who Taught You That… and What’s Teaching You Now?

👍🏻 Most parents talk confidently about their children’s education, yet many, including myself at one point, are simply repeating what they’ve been told is best, without truly understanding why. That realisation pushed me to go deeper, not to find the perfect system for my daughter, but to start asking better questions. Who Taught You That ? is the result: a bold and personal exploration of how education shapes our beliefs and values. From elite schools to radical alternatives, this book uncovers the hidden forces behind what we’re taught, and challenges you to reexamine your own learning journey. 📒

👎🏻 When it’s time to cash out, some entrepreneurs may feel shortchanged by their shareholders… forgetting that these same partners stood by them during the storms that could have sunk the venture before it ever reached the shore. Risk carries a cost and support in hard times always comes with a price. 💸

✍🏻 My journey with generative AI began more than two years ago by simply using it to replace Google searches, then evolved into mastering the art of prompting, and now into a deeper process… asking the right questions to unlock the most powerful results. But this is just the beginning. Tomorrow, AI won’t just support your business, it may become your personal chief of staff, orchestrating a team of specialised AI agents on your behalf. And for your children, this won’t be optional… it will be second nature. The future isn’t found... it’s forged, starting now. 🧠

BAFTA Bells, Missed Spells & Bold Moves

👍🏻 Mauritius isn’t just a destination ... it’s quickly becoming part of the vision. I had the chance to share a few bold, transformative projects with the Economic Development Board Mauritius, and the response? Fast, sharp, and refreshingly forward-thinking. Let’s just say, if I needed a sign to fuel this move, the universe sent it… with a Mauritian stamp. 🇲🇺

👎🏻 Paridise island on one side, and on the other… they found their Hermione for the Harry Potter HBO series ... sadly, it wasn’t my daughter. She had a blast anyway, and we will only occasionally bring it up… maybe once a week. With PGL camp on the horizon, here’s hoping fresh adventures cast an even stronger spell than the one that slipped away. 🪄

✍🏻 Nothing to do with HBO but ten years ago, I dipped into film movie production ... It was a fun detour before I refocused on what I do best (though my IMDb page still lives on https://lnkd.in/ePmUeHf5). This week, I revisited BAFTA 195 Piccadilly with a friend. Once home to the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, it hides timeless stories ... from Hitchcock’s discreet entries to a secret champagne bell under the stairs. Eiffel view, AI vision

👍🏻 I feel augmented—as if each “red peel” I take is a fusion of human connection and generative AI magic. The more I engage with people, the more my mind expands, fed by fresh perspectives and unexpected sparks. And the more ideas I gather, the more I harness AI to shape them into reality, freeing space in my brain… ready for the next red peel, the next leap forward. 💊

👎🏻 Some see it, some don't. But make no mistake: the seismic shift we're experiencing has no historical parallel. Artificial intelligence is still in its infancy, and while the singularity isn't knocking on our door tomorrow, the realm of what's possible now hinges entirely on human ingenuity and our interconnectedness. The old ways of thinking is simply dying. 🙈

✍🏻 While visiting my friend Andrea’s new office, bathed in the golden light of a Parisian afternoon, my eyes caught a striking mansion perfectly aligned with the Eiffel Tower. To my surprise, it was both the fictional home of Charles Duchemin in L’Aile ou la Cuisse and the real-life private mansion of Gustave Eiffel himself. From those very windows, Eiffel once admired his masterpiece—insisting the skyline remain low so nothing would interrupt his view. A quiet corner of Paris where cinema and history share the same frame. 🗽

Parenting in the Age of AI & Cyber Threats

👍🏻 Seeking a captivating way to introduce my daughter to the realm of generative AI, we embarked on a super-fun creative journey that culminated in a truly stunning result: her very first Coloring Book for Kids, her very first book-making studio Color & Learn Adventures, and an exciting follow-up project already in the works – a comic book starring her as the ultimate superhero. 🦸‍♀️

👎🏻 This brave new world bombards us with digital threats – spam, data leaks, and the insidious rise of deepfakes orchestrated by cunning cybercriminals. To navigate this darknet, adopt these fundamental defenses: scrutinize systematically sender aliases, let unknown calls drift to voicemail, and fortify your inner circle against deepfake trickery by establishing a unique password known only to your closest family. 🛡️

✍🏻 The ever-present topic of education ignites passionate discussions among parents, each holding firm convictions, yet few delve into the historical roots, evolutionary journey, or potential future of our educational systems, often echoing familiar sentiments; perhaps the moment has arrived to pose a more insightful question. 📚

🙏🏻 Special thanks this week to Anandrao, Nayan, Vivek, Pierre-Francois

✨ Star of the week : Karl for spearheading the launch of our inaugural real estate venture in Mauritius, a significant first step in what promises to be a remarkable and extensive portfolio of projects to come.

Gatsby, Oud & Buffett

👍🏻 A friend invited me to hashtagTheGreatGatsby musical, and from the moment the curtain rose, I was swept into the Roaring 20s. Jazz, flappers, and wild abandon—suddenly, I wasn’t just watching history; I was living it. An era I’ve always romanticized came vividly to life, and it was pure magic. ✨

👎🏻 Just booked my NYC escape—and the price shock is real. In the 20s, $1 covered a movie, subway, and hot dog—with change. Today? It barely pays coffee tax. A century of hashtaginflation has turned the city from accessible to aspirational. 💸

✍🏻 New York may feel priceless, but Southeast Asia holds a treasure just as rare— Agarwood, the wounded heartwood that produces hashtagOud, one of the world’s most coveted oils. Perfuming temples and luxury brands alike, Oud is more than a scent—it’s a status symbol. With demand soaring, its journey from forest to fragrance is a powerful call for bold, sustainable investment. 💎

🙏🏻 Special thanks this week to Christophe , Anandrao, Joseph, Karl

✨ Star of the week : Warren Buffett delivered a staggering 5,502,284% return since taking over Berkshire Hathaway in 1965—doubling the S&P 500’s annual growth. As he announces his retirement, an era of legendary investing comes to a close.

Sixty Nations and One Sick Kid

👍🏻 Last night, within the hallowed halls of London’s Reform Club, the launch of the hashtagGlobalFDIBlueprint2025 brought together minds from over 60 nations. We dined, debated, and aligned on the future of international investment, sustainability, and innovation. The setting? Timeless. The dialogue? Powerful. The vision? Global. 🌍

👎🏻 Meanwhile, back on the home front, a microscopic army of germs staged a full-scale coup at my daughter’s school—leading to a heroic 2-day shutdown. Apparently, the only thing spreading faster than capital flows is cafeteria contagion. 🦠

✍🏻 The Reform Club itself remains a symbol of legacy and thought leadership—a place where history and ambition still clink glasses over dinner. Established in 1836, this sanctuary has long been a stage for progressive ideas and international dialogue, famously inspiring Jules Verne as the starting and ending point for Phileas Fogg's epic journey. 🏛️

Beyond the Self, Beyond the Sterling, Beyond the Status Quo

👍🏻 Ambition, in its truest form, is rarely a solitary endeavor. While individual strengths provide the foundation, it is the alignment of visions, the joining of distinct talents, that propels us towards extraordinary outcomes. This week's exploration of liquidity in Venture Capital underscored this fundamental principle. By harnessing hashtagcollective intelligence and shared purpose, we illuminated pathways previously unseen. Expect more as we continue to forge these powerful alliances.

👎🏻 Let's be frank: the UK's appeal to the world's wealthiest is being eroded, not by dramatic pronouncements, but by the persistent drip of fiscal pressure and a tax code in flux. The recent and anticipated adjustments – the tightening grip on inheritance, the shifting landscape of capital gains, the evolving treatment of non-doms – are sending a clear message. For those with the means to choose, the perception of a less fertile ground for wealth creation, compared to more welcoming shores, is a powerful motivator. The consequence? A discernible hashtagdrift, a quiet departure of the very individuals whose investment and expertise are vital for the nation's future prosperity.

✍🏻 Mark this moment: the EU's DLT TSS regime signals a profound shift, a rewriting of the rules for European financial markets. Its revolutionary core lies in a legal innovation that dares to unite trading and post-trade within the transformative power of DLT. This isn't mere optimization; it's a radical simplification, promising near-instant settlement and a significant slashing of intermediary costs. The implications are transformative: imagine the seamless transfer of tokenized equities and bonds, the radical transparency injected into supply chain finance via tokenized invoices, the unlocking of fractional asset ownership with automated payouts, and the emergence of entirely new liquid markets for previously inaccessible assets. By fostering a direct and efficient interplay between participants, the hashtagDLT hashtagTSS regime is not just modernizing; it's forging a future of unprecedented agility, transparency, and cost-effectiveness for the entire European financial landscape.

Venture Beyond the comfort zone

👍🏻 Leaping into the unknown, even within the controlled environment of indoor hashtagskydiving, ignites a thrilling blend of fear and profound self-satisfaction. Should your initial flight feel less than perfect, persistence becomes your only trajectory. Ultimately, embracing such challenges, regardless of the immediate outcome, distinguishes you from the vast majority who merely dream and discuss, granting you the tangible reward of lived experience.

👎🏻 While the thrill of building your own empire sings its siren song, the idyllic vision of a lingering family escape often fades into a distant echo. Stepping away from the helm feels near impossible when you're the sole captain, knowing the ship will likely drift without your unwavering hand on the wheel.

✍🏻 In the dynamic heart of Barcelona's thriving tech scene, Bcombinator emerges as a pivotal force, a startup incubator and venture capital firm founded by seasoned entrepreneurs deeply rooted in the local ecosystem. More than just mentorship and co-working, Bcombinator provides a comprehensive, hands-on program with significant investment potential, offering initial funding up to €100,000 and follow-on opportunities reaching €500,000. Its unique strength lies in its vibrant community, uniting over 200 founders who learn and grow together, accessing a powerful network of over 500 investors. Having propelled over 50 high-growth tech startups to launch in the past two years, generating over €100 million in value, Bcombinator is undeniably a key catalyst in Barcelona's burgeoning startup success story.

Community, Hypocrisy, and Digital Vulnerability

👍🏻 I believe in the power of community in business. It is like rocket fuel—when people come together around a shared purpose, trust, and values, magic happens. It turns teammates into co-creators and ideas into movements. A strong community doesn’t just support a business—it builds it, sustains it, and scales it far beyond what any solo founder ever could. 🦾

👎🏻 Love wasting my time listening to self-proclaimed fundraising state gurus—especially the ones who generously explain how to raise money for your fund, all while not risking a single cent of their own and heroically gambling with taxpayers’ cash instead. Truly inspiring stuff—like getting fitness advice from someone eating donuts on a treadmill. 🙄

✍🏻 The recent Oracle and Harvest data leaks highlight the persistent danger of cyberattacks targeting both major infrastructure providers and software developers. Oracle's breach, exploiting an old vulnerability in "Cloud Classic," exposed millions of records, while threats to developers like Harvest risk wider supply chain compromises. These incidents underscore the urgent need for robust security, proactive patching, and transparency across the software ecosystem to protect sensitive data. 🚨

The Sweet and Sour of Entrepreneurship

👍🏻 I've learned that the journey matters as much as the destination. And in my businesses, I'm blessed with some of my companions, partners I trust implicitly. They don't guarantee victory, no one can. But their presence transforms the struggle into something almost enjoyable.

👎🏻 Ah, this week was not all about Liberation Day for me. A mere fourteen hour odyssey to Budapest with Wizzair, followed by a charming three-hour bank hostage situation just to open a Hungarian account. Naturally, this financial triumph was immediately followed by my Barcelona account being vaporized by the local constabulary, for reasons so top-secret, even they probably don't know. And bless the Mauritian administration, who are clearly living in a delightful pre-internet era. Yes, a truly forgettable week – one I plan to erase from my consciousness with copious amounts of something strong. 🇭🇺 🇪🇸 🇲🇺

✍🏻 One of my friend bravely escaped the corporate hamster wheel and immediately tackled life's Everest: getting a driving license – a feat of endurance that surely deserves a medal. Now, for her next grand adventure, my genius plan involves the thrilling world of ad-free YouTube and the frankly terrifying realm of ChatGPT. Yes, I've advised her to spend her precious freedom learning to converse with robots, because apparently, that's the killer skill for the next decade. Forget learning a language or a musical instrument; mastering the art of polite AI prompting is clearly the new black. 🤖

Breathe, Break, Border

👍🏻 Dinner with an old friend, a comfortable ritual of shared memories and life updates, became a welcome, albeit brief, respite from the grown-up realities of children, spouses, and the weight of daily responsibilities, a necessary pause to recharge and face the ongoing journey with renewed vigor. 🍽️

👎🏻 Watching a cherished project fail is a unique form of heartbreak, a loss that transcends mere financial investment, encompassing the countless hours and fervent dedication poured into its creation; yet, despite the emotional toll, there are moments when the wisest, albeit most painful, decision is to relinquish control and allow it to fade. ❤️‍🩹

✍🏻 Greenland's allure for the U.S. is a potent blend of strategic and economic imperatives. Positioned as a vital bridge between North America and Europe, its geography offers crucial military advantages, particularly in Arctic monitoring, a fact underscored by the presence of Pituffik Space Base as a key early-warning system. Beyond this, the island's vast, untapped mineral resources, including rare earth elements, present a significant economic opportunity. As climate change reshapes the Arctic, opening new shipping routes and facilitating resource extraction, Greenland's strategic and economic value to the U.S. intensifies, solidifying its place as a focal point in global power dynamics. 🇬🇱

Lenses, Lessons, Lifelines

👍🏻 Carve out time, even in the most demanding weeks, to connect with new faces. This isn't just networking; it's a deliberate expansion of your worldview. Each new person offers a unique lens, a chance to absorb knowledge you wouldn't find otherwise. 💬

👎🏻 France needs to act now. Its British neighbor has been effectively using tax incentives to drive innovation investment since 1994. It’s time to adopt their successful strategy and inject this vital capital into the French innovation ecosystem, in particular the DefTech sector. 💶

✍🏻 Paris, this Thursday, echoed with a stark truth: Europe's defense, once a distant concern, now demands immediate capital. Amidst global tremors and swelling state budgets, the room buzzed with urgency, a quest to fuel AI, cyber shields, and future weaponry. Venture capitalists and titans of finance grappled with risk, pleaded for clear rules, and sought the elusive alchemy of tech that serves both soldier and citizen. The message, clear as a rifle shot, was this: defense is no longer a choice, but a lifeline; and new money, new models, are the keys to Europe's survival in a world on edge. 🪖

Forces of Change

👍🏻 IHEIE - Institut des Hautes Études pour l'Innovation et l'Entrepreneuriat, provided an unparalleled learning environment during their visit this week in London. Collaborating with thought leaders from Hermès, DAHER, Bpifrance, Marie Curie Research Institute, Gendarmerie Nationale and Mairie de Cannes illuminated the diverse forces shaping France's innovation landscape. 💡

👎🏻 In the high-stakes arena of deal-making, clarity is paramount. Yet, hashtagpressure often clouds judgment, turning sound decisions into impulsive gambles. The most effective strategy? The deliberate pause. Before committing, before signing, before uttering the words that cannot be unsaid, create space. Breathe. Allow the fog to dissipate. This isn't weakness; it's strategic wisdom. It's the difference between a successful transaction and a costly regret. 💸

✍🏻 Against the backdrop of Europe's escalating anxieties, the hashtagGIGN, once a sentinel against terror, now emerges as a multifaceted force, its legendary precision and rapid response morphing into a vital component of France's broader defense strategy; their expertise in hostage situations and intricate operations, honed in the crucible of domestic threats, translates seamlessly into a landscape riddled with hybrid warfare and unconventional dangers, thereby strengthening the nation's ability to adapt and endure in an ever-shifting theatre of conflict.🎖️

The Unseen Shift

👍🏻 The startup journey: a brutal, modern epic where entrepreneurs, like Herculean figures, battle funding monsters, market beasts, and bureaucratic chaos. They don't just plan, they bleed, forging resilience in the crucible of near-failure. Each victory, a hard-won labor, cements their status as the new hashtagheroes, their ventures a testament to raw ingenuity etched in sweat and steel, a defiant roar against the impossible. 🦾

👎🏻 In a stunning display of shifting allegiances, Trump bullied Zelensky at the White House while warming relations with Putin and burdened his Mexican and Canadian neighbors with extra taxes. The U.S. sided with Russia by voting against a UN resolution condemning the war in Ukraine, prompting Europe to invest €800 billion in defense against a perceived Russian threat. This historic pivot marks not only the recklessness of one hashtagwindbag but the profound, lasting transformation of a nation. 🇺🇸

✍🏻 While DeepSeek's dazzling algorithms dominate headlines, China's hashtagSAL satellite, achieving millimeter-level resolution from space, quietly revolutionizes the very act of seeing. This isn't just a technological leap; it's a fundamental shift in global power dynamics, where the ability to acquire unprecedented detail transforms intelligence, warfare, and potentially, the very nature of privacy. The public's AI fascination obscures the SAL's stark reality: information's true power lies not just in processing, but in the unblinking, hyper-precise eye that first captures it, a silent revolution demanding far greater scrutiny. 🇨🇳

👍🏻 The Felix Project isn't just a charity; it's a lifeline, a swift, compassionate hand reaching into the overflowing bins of plenty to fill the empty plates of need, turning waste into warmth, and in doing so, stitching a city back together, meal by rescued meal. Inspiring and amazing. ♻️

👎🏻 Venture Capital demands a tolerance for risk, a dance with the unpredictable. You'll learn to tame the market's wild swings, but the most treacherous terrain lies within: the human heart. Forget financial models; betrayal, the erosion of trust, the shattering of loyalty—these are the silent killers that can dismantle empires built on the boldest visions. ⛓️‍💥

✍🏻 hashtagPicasso, a titan of Cubism, wasn't just a painter; he was a force of creation, leaving behind a staggering 147,800 works, poems, and even clandestine wartime sculptures, his destiny foretold by his first word, "piz" (pencil in Spanish). This prolific output and enduring influence are underscored by his status as history's most stolen artist, a testament to the insatiable desire for his visionary art. 🎨

👍🏻 Imagine an investment fund that not only fuels disruptive, mission-aligned technologies but also creates a sustainable, recurring revenue stream for the very charities those technologies aim to serve. This innovative model promises a powerful synergy, where financial returns are intrinsically linked to social impact, creating a virtuous cycle of growth and support. ♻️

👎🏻 I’m committed to supporting our startups through thick and thin, recognising the inherent challenges at their stage of development. However, founders must understand that our partnership is built on shared risk and the pursuit of value creation, not simply as a source of ongoing funding. 🛟

✍🏻 Climate change is dramatically increasing the financial devastation wrought by natural disasters worldwide. By mid-century, annual damages are projected to reach staggering levels: $50 billion in North America (hurricanes, wildfires), up to $40 billion in Europe (flooding), $160 billion in Asia (cyclones, floods, droughts), $40 billion in Africa (droughts, flooding), and $50 billion in Latin America (hurricanes, floods). These escalating costs will strain economies and worsen social inequality as climate change intensifies.🌦️

👎🏻 Is it war? A world war? ... in the glittering halls of the hashtagAIsummit in Paris. Not with bombs and bullets, but with algorithms and data. Global powers like the US and China clashed, each vying for control of the AI arena. Even the host, France, was making a play, investing a staggering €109 billion to try and secure a place at the table. The stakes were high: dominance over the future of AI, and with it, the economic and political might to shape the world. 💣

✍🏻 Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) remain a powerful force in US philanthropy, even with 2023 contributions dipping to $59.43 billion after a record-breaking 2022. Despite this fluctuation, hashtagDAFs hold a substantial $251.52 billion in assets and consistently distribute significant funds to charities, granting $54.77 billion in 2023. This highlights their enduring popularity as a tax-efficient giving tool, though a notable gap persists between the vast sums held in DAFs and the amount actually reaching charitable causes. 🎗️

Investment rounds are a dizzying blur of activity, with fortunes shifting faster than a seasoned trader could blink. The old rules of funding? They're being rewritten faster than a hotshot novelist can churn out a bestseller. This isn't just a boom; it's a revolution. 🦾

👎🏻 The roar of "Allez les Bleus!" reverberated through Twickenham, a defiant splash of blue in a sea of white roses. But even that fervent cry couldn't hold back the inevitable. With mere seconds ticking away, one agonizing minute left on the clock, the XV of France watched victory slip through their fingers, succumbing to the relentless Roses. 🌹

👍🏻 English isn't my first language, and let's just say my childhood essays weren't exactly award-winning. Yet, last year, I took a leap of faith and published Venture Beyond. The experience was an absolute blast! Fueled by that joy, I have crafted a hashtagNewBook. Mark your calendars! January 30th is the big day! 📖

👎🏻 The skies remain stubbornly tethered to the past. AirTravel, despite its transformative power, remains a fossil fuel behemoth, spewing carbon emissions with each flight. While whispers of electric and hydrogen-powered planes tantalize, the reality is a frustratingly slow march towards a truly revolutionary future. The sheer engineering and logistical hurdles – from developing and scaling alternative propulsion systems to overhauling our entire aviation infrastructure – are daunting. 👍🏻 hashtagAge brings a profound clarity. You finally understand your strengths, your weaknesses, the dance of your own unique prowess. This self-awareness is liberation. It allows you to curate your life, to surround yourself with talents that complements your own. 🃏

✍🏻 The hashtagChristmasMusic market is a lucrative beast, and three titans rule its kingdom. Mariah Carey's 'All I Want for Christmas Is You' reigns supreme, a cash cow generates over $3 million a year in royalties. Wham!'s 'Last Christmas' and Bing Crosby's 'White Christmas' complete the holy trinity, their royalties flowing from streaming platforms, digital downloads, and countless commercial appearances. 👍🏻 Twelve years of hashtagMarriageAnniversary ? That's a lifetime of shared laughter, tears, and the occasional "honey, did you really just do that?" It's been a rollercoaster ride, from the blissful honeymoon phase to the "honey, where did my other sock go?" phase. We've weathered storms, raised a tiny human, and somehow managed to keep our sanity, even if it's sometimes fueled by Mauritian rhum and matcha tea. Here's to another year of imperfectly perfect love, where the only constant is our wonderful lives. 🎂

👎🏻 I struggle with the art of hashtagforgiveness. A single misspoken word, an unintended slight—it can cast a long shadow, no matter the circumstances. I find it easier to sever the bond, to simply walk away. Perhaps it's a form of self-preservation, a way to shield my soul. 🤷🏻‍♂️

✍🏻 Our planet is fevered. Temperatures have soared a perilous 1.1 degrees Celsius since the Industrial Revolution, fueling a deluge in catastrophic weather events. Scorching heatwaves, parching droughts, and devastating floods are no longer anomalies; they're the grim new normal. Coastal cities, once bastions of human ingenuity, now face the existential threat of rising seas, their foundations eroded by the 20-30 centimeter surge. The oceans, our life-giving blue expanse, are turning 30% more acidic, a silent killer suffocating marine life. The most vulnerable among us—the poor, the marginalized—are bearing the brunt of this hashtagClimateCrisis. The economic toll is equally devastating, with trillions of dollars hanging in the balance. It's a race against time. A race to decarbonize our economies, to adapt to the inevitable, and to secure a sustainable future for generations to come. 🌪️

✍🏻 While IPO activity in 2024 has seen a notable decline compared to previous years, a burgeoning trend has emerged: the hashtagtokenization of equity. This innovative approach allows companies to issue digital tokens representing shares of ownership, bypassing traditional hashtagIPO processes. For instance, in the first half of 2024, the number of IPOs globally fell by 12% compared to the same period in 2023, with proceeds dropping by 16%. However, during this time, the number of tokenized equity offerings saw a significant uptick, with several high-profile companies successfully raising millions of dollars through this method. This shift has opened up new avenues for fundraising, democratizing access to investment opportunities and potentially reducing the costs associated with IPOs. As regulatory frameworks continue to evolve, tokenized equity is poised to play a significant role in shaping the future of capital markets.

First my UK accountant, in a stunning display of business acumen, decided to abruptly abandon limited companies. Imagine my delight! This week, I’ve been knee-deep in the dreary task of finding a replacement, navigating the treacherous waters of online accounting titans and the quaint charm of local experts. 👎🏻 hashtagSocialmedia platforms like TikTok and Instagram, while offering endless entertainment, have become insidious agents of educational erosion. Their algorithms, designed to keep us hooked, bombard children with a constant stream of short, attention-grabbing content. 👍🏻 hashtagEntrepreneurship is a tempestuous sea, demanding courage and resilience. Yet, the rewards are as boundless as the ocean itself. 👎🏻 The siren song of hashtaggreed can be a seductive melody, but one that often leads down a treacherous path. It whispers promises of abundance, but often delivers a hollow victory – a mountain of possessions built on shaky foundations of poor choices and isolation. Remember, sometimes the greatest wealth lies not in claiming everything, but in collaborating effectively. Sharing the spoils, even if it means owning half, can be far more rewarding than clinging to a whole that ultimately isolates you. It's about building bridges, not walls. True success is often found not in the solitary pursuit of "more," but in the shared journey towards abundance.

👍🏻 The tightrope walk of innovation often involves balancing hashtagpatience and hashtagtiming. While meticulously building a sustainable solution is crucial, missing the right window to market can leave you behind. The key lies in striking a balance. Thorough testing and development ensure a long-lasting solution, but keeping a close eye on industry trends and competitor moves helps you launch at the opportune moment. It's about crafting something valuable without being outpaced by a rush to market.

👎🏻 While hashtaglegal action can be tempting to recoup funds from a shady entrepreneur, there are downsides. Lawyer fees can eat significantly into recovered money, and the process can be lengthy. Success hinges on the entrepreneur having assets to seize, and even a court win doesn't guarantee immediate repayment. Exploring alternative options like mediation or pursuing the entrepreneur with bad publicity might be worth considering first.

✍🏻 The hashtagInsurTech market is taking a turn! While total funding dipped below $1 billion in Q1 for the first time since 2020, there's a silver lining for budding entrepreneurs. Early-stage startups are seeing a surge in investment, with a whopping 26.5% increase compared to the last quarter. This signals a strong commitment to fostering fresh ideas, even as the industry matures. Interestingly, the average deal size has shrunk by 30%, suggesting a move towards strategic, impactful investments. In essence, InsurTech in 2024 is consolidating, but with its sights set on the future, prepared for the next wave of disruption.

👍🏻 20 years ago, a wide-eyed dreamer (ahem, me!) made his first hashtagrealestate investment: a small pied-à-terre tucked away in a charming villa in hashtagLyon. Two decades later French bureaucracy has become a bit too much of a tango for me. 👎🏻 The life of an hashtagentrepreneur – it glitters from afar, doesn't it? Like a rock concert under the stage lights. But trust me, backstage, it's pure rock and roll. Sweat, sleepless nights, and enough caffeine to power a small city. People only see the platinum records, the sold-out tours. They don't see the countless gigs in dive bars, the rejections, the endless hustle. The truth? Reaching your entrepreneurial shore is a long, exhilarating, and occasionally terrifying swim.

✍🏻 Forget farm-to-table, get ready for future-to-fork! My jaunt this week through Lyon's culinary delights ignited a spark – hashtagfoodtech is on the cusp of a mouthwatering revolution. My grandfather would never have imagined sizzling plant-based burgers that quench your cravings and cricket flour that'll have you chirping with delight. AI is even becoming a culinary confidante, crafting personalized nutrition plans just for you. But this feast for the senses goes beyond the plate. Building sustainable farms that minimize food waste is the ultimate goal, with e-commerce giants like Amazon and your local grocer locked in an epic grocery delivery duel. While pinpointing exact figures can be tricky, this industry's a goldmine – we're talking over $100 billion being invested annually. In this new playground I know we can count on our rock star Roberto !

✍🏻 In the rugged shadows of Gascony, a far older spirit whispers secrets – hashtagArmagnac. This ain't your supermarket brand hooch. We're talking centuries-old tradition, with roots digging back to the 14th century. Unlike its flashy neighbor, Armagnac uses grapes like Ugni Blanc, Colombard, and Folle Blanche, weaving a tapestry of flavors – think complex, fruity, with a hint of wild rebellion. And the best part? Some bottles have seen more sunrises than you've had hot dinners. So, if you crave a taste of history, a sip that's more than just a drink, then Armagnac is your huckleberry.

Life's a train, thundering through decades, picking up passengers at every stop. Some become companions, their faces etched in laughter and shared journeys. But the tracks twist, and sometimes principles diverge like switch points. At almost fifty, the whistle blows for a tough decision: cling to the past, crammed shoulder-to-shoulder, or step onto a new platform, the echo of their goodbye swallowed by the engine's roar. It's not about abandoning, but embracing the truth - some friendships, like train tickets, have their destinations. And sometimes, letting go is the bravest act of love, a wave goodbye as the train pulls away, leaving space for new landscapes and the next adventure. 🫡

The Eiffel Tower's shadow stretches over a France on the brink. Once a fiscal charmer, it now stumbles, pockets bare. Did you know the French Senate's iconic dome, designed by Gabriel Davioud, was inaugurated in 1852 under the Second Republic? Today, it houses 348 senators, representing France's mainland and overseas territories, elected in indirect elections every six years since the Constitution of 1946. Stepping into the ornate Salon Doré, decorated with frescoes depicting historic scenes from the Middle Ages to the early 20th century, is like walking through a living textbook of French history. From Jules Ferry's 1882 laws establishing free, secular education for all, to Marie Curie becoming the first woman elected to the Senate in 1922, these walls whisper tales of progress and change.

Whispers of hashtagdoomsday swirl among the hashtagultrarich, fueling an extravagant and often secretive arms race against the apocalypse. Luxury bunker companies like Vivos cater to this fear, offering opulent subterranean havens stocked with years of supplies, hydroponic gardens, and yes, even horse stables. Tech titans invest in private islands, remote retreats far from the madding crowd, and some even speculate on gene editing technology to ensure their offspring's survival. But critics scoff, arguing these gilded fortresses offer a false sense of security, ignoring the interconnectedness of a world where escape hatches for the few won't solve problems for the many. Whether these preparations are a sign of foresight or hubris remains to be seen, but one thing's certain: the ultra-rich are approaching doomsday not with trembling hands, but with platinum credit cards.
