#XrisLogbook 194 - People, Power, Persistence 🇨🇭
👍🏻 Sometimes the right person arrives at exactly the right time. Paul came over from Barcelona to spend a couple of weeks helping us through the final stretch at Cocoon Bay, just as I left Mauritius for a few days in Europe. He knows our way of working, knows how to get the right people around the table and, more importantly, knows how to get things finished. While I’m writing this between Paris and Geneva, it’s reassuring to know that someone I trust is on the ground pushing the details forward. 🏗️
👎🏻 You can build almost everything… except the electricity connection yourself. Cocoon Bay is progressing well, but we’re still waiting for the final CEB connection to the grid. Our builder is pushing, the different teams are following up, and everyone seems to agree that we’re nearly there. The only thing missing is the electricity itself. Until the power is on, several final steps simply can’t happen. Hopefully by the time I’m back in Mauritius, Cocoon Bay will finally have a little more power than its owner. ⚡️
✍🏻 The final stretch of any project is a good reminder that materials, plans and capital only take you so far. What really gets a project over the line is people who answer the phone, solve problems and care about doing the job properly. We’ve found some excellent suppliers and partners in Mauritius, and Paul’s arrival this week reinforced that lesson for me: execution is rarely about one big decision. It’s hundreds of small problems, solved one after another, by people who refuse to leave them unfinished. 👷
🙏🏻Special thanks to Paul for jumping on a plane and joining us for this final push.
