At 20, you try to fill your days. At 50, you learn to empty them.
Well, in theory. 😅
For a long time, I measured my days by everything I managed to fit into them.
Meetings, projects, encounters, travels.
A full calendar gave me the feeling of a full life.
And I must admit I loved that.
Today, I still love building, discovering and meeting people just as much.
I probably even have more ideas than at 20.
But something has changed.
I'm starting to appreciate the moments when nothing happens.
A coffee that lasts two hours.
A conversation with no agenda.
An afternoon with no plan.
The problem is, as soon as a slot frees up in my calendar, I immediately find something to fill it with.
I've even tried blocking time to do nothing.
Which already says a lot about my condition. 😂
Over the years, I realize we spend so much time trying to save time.
And that one day, you simply start wanting to enjoy it.
At 20, I was afraid of missing something.
At 50, I'm starting to wonder what I'm missing by trying to do everything.
So, if anyone knows a method for learning to do nothing without turning it into a new project, I'm interested. 😂
